FIVE MONTHS TO GO!

So much for details.

Right now, I am so beat.

Trying to wrap up work for the week.
Rushing for dinner with the Mr.
And going over to my cousin’s henna night.
(My chummiest of cousins is gonna get married. Sigh.)

I’m going to be spending the weekend at her wedding. I can just foresee myself collapsing on the bed when it’s over.

Then it’s gonna be a busy Monday, trying to get details down pat for Wednesday’s seminar at work.
I’m still trying to negotiate with catering.

I can’t decide if I should stick to red, or try some other colour for dresses this weekend.

But one thing’s for sure,
I’m going to stick to flat shoes!

Am gonna compile all the pics to create an album for her. I’ll try.

In the meantime, let’s just surrender to the Sandman.

Alright, this is gonna be an uber-quick one.

First,

tomorrow will be the day I put my name down with the Mr’s, at ROMM!

Yes, we’re gonna register our marriage.

I so hope my real dad is not going to create a scene.

Secondly,

I have started work.

With the very firm I was adamant on turning down!

I came down for a second interview and voiced out my concerns, and yes, I brought my certificates this time round, and boy, am I glad.

As for the fact that I said it’s quite a shainty shack,
well okay, I am working on beautifying the place a little bit. Have ordered in some new furniture for more incoming staff, working on the filing system, and moved some things around.

I admit, I probably let first impressions get the better of me, but I’m glad that I gave it a second shot.

Am happy here. Really.

Only 3 staff here at the moment, not including myself. Having a young (I really mean in age) team pretty much helps.

And I think men are less fussy compared to women.

Again, more updates tomorrow!

And just to really emphasize on how busy I really am,
I’m not resizing the photos.

I was telling the Mr about my interview yesterday, at some realty office.

Him being away for the past week (well okay it was four days since Labour Day didn’t count, and then it was three days before that) on reservist meant that I had loads to tell him about.
As some of my fellow FaceBookers would know, I’ve been trying to keep myself company by going to the community library as well as indulging in a little shopping.

It was really a little. I only bought one makeup item (Maybelline’s Angelfit Blush in Cinnamon!!!), a few toiletries and that was it. How it summed up to $52, I do not know. Really.

So anyway, I was telling him about the interview I went for yesterday.
It went rather well except for the fact that I threw a silent bitchfit in front of the office when I realized that I had forgotten to bring my certificates along.

Really? Who does that?
Who else, but me.

So I put on a brave front and hoped that they, whoever the interviewers would be, would not ask.
Afterall, there have been so many who didn’t go beyond asking for references.

When it was my turn, I felt that I struck up a pretty neat conversation, selling myself rather well.
Note: It was only an administrative position.

However I must say, that when I did step into the office (I’ll only say it was in the Tanjong Pagar area), I didn’t quite feel up to it anymore. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that a staff had realized I’d come in for an interview, I would have left.

When I come to an interview, I am not the only one who desires to meet expectations.
I come in, holding expectations of the prospective employer as well.
If what I see around the office, is of amateurish design, somewhat temporary outlook,
and if I see a newly established Business Registration number listed, there’s not much faith to begin with.

And when a candidate explains her credentials, you don’t ask her..
“Are you sure you got an A1 in English for your O levels?” (Note: No, I am not bragging.)
I am very sure I took in such a sharp breath, it was audible enough for both interviewers to hear.

Yes, I got an A1 for my O levels. And an A2 in Malay. (It’s a Malaysian-based firm, hence they asked. Yes I know, AGAIN.)
And yes, I covered Techniques of Professional Speaking & Writing during my certification for Mass Communications, hence my confidence in professional correspondence and drafting of contracts. Hell, I can even proof-read.

I mean, if I even offered to email over scanned copies of my certificates, it must count for something genuine right?

But such a question just put me off man.

Am I sure?
Hell no, I’m pretty sure Cambridge made a mistake there, let me just go home and check again and see if I’ve been deluding myself for the past 8 years.. (-_-)”

WHAT THE HELL MAN.

Anyway,
they told me I did rather well and they might consider calling me back for a second interview.

I am no fool.
I looked at the faces of the previous candidates and they looked disinterested too.

And to work in such a shainty shacked-up place?
It’s alright, I’ll pass.

I wanna work for someone who would actually look like they’d pay me my due salary, and due respect.
I don’t work for people who undermine my capabilities.
Respect is mutual, yes?

Oh, and I nearly forgot. I so easily digress.

So I was going on and on about it to the Mr, and his reaction?

“Turn them down, I know they will get back to you and schedule another interview. But turn them down. I can’t quite imagine what sort of manners they would have to say such a thing.. And you don’t need employers like that. People are hired for what they can do. It speaks volumes of how they will treat you in the future. Besides, I still earn enough for the both of us.”

Wow,
that was rather touching. Like, seriously, awwwwwwwwwwwwww-material.

The last time he said that too was when I was working for that crazed SPG-wife of an ang moh boss in that headhunting firm. Because I came home crying almost everyday, overworked and frustrated.

So anyway, yes, I am very touched today that my fiance is adamant on me sticking it out for something I would be comfortable with. He doesn’t want me to be half-hearted from day one.
That said, of course it’s very sweet to hear, and I know despite the economic crisis I should perhaps be a little lenient on the job search, but I hate job-hopping and am definitely not looking forward to short unhappy stints.

So yes, a little while longer,
but in the meantime, at least I can go to sleep in peace knowing that I am still not tearing my pockets out,
have got my wedding still on tracks,
and yes, my family and fiance does not hold it against me to start working my ass off … yet.

It would be very nice if ICA or Customs replied to me within this point of time. The very thought of being in uniform again appeals to me. That, and having a safe and stable job for me.. the wife-to-be.

Mother-to-be? I shall not get started on National Geographic’s In The Womb documentary yet!

I am severely traumatised.

I haven’t been updating my blog again.
I keep forgetting; I keep putting it off.

I even made a mental note to start video blogging, thinking it would be so much easier.
But when I actually did an entry,
I felt that I was too ugly to be on video.

It’s just me, I feel like I talk with too much expression, my lips contort way too much, and I tend to blink too much when I’m talking.
Then again, I just feel like I’m doing it; no one told me that.

I don’t know what to do with this blog anymore.
Everything I’m doing or going through does not seem to be worthy of jotting down.

I’m always surfing some site or some other blog, but I wince when I think about mine.
Tsk.

The Mr said he would like me to try video blogging.
Would boost my confidence when talking, and perhaps, in a twisted way, put my Communications cert into use.
You know, practice what I learnt.
Like real.

I hope I get a job soon.
Partly to help the cash constraint,
and also to boost my social life.

It’s such a dreary journey from home to the central of Singapore if I do decide to meet up with the friends!
So yeah, if I was working, it would be like half the journey since I’m already out of the house anyway..

Shall try to video blog tomorrow.
Have got an interview scheduled as well so let’s see how it goes. Hmmmm..~

We gathered at Nis’s place yesterday to celebrate her engagement to Suffree.
Congratulations!

Ah, nothing like friends hooking up together. Hehehe. Alhamdulillah ~

I brought Hasni along with me. Nothing too, like an evening of meeting up with the friends plus being with the beloved Mr.

We split up afterward; being with the Mr is a must, he’s on reservist this week, and no matter how  used I am to his shift work, the mentality of knowing that he is neither at home, nor at work, bothers me. So of course when he’s home, I have to get him for myself! XD

The rest of the gang wanted to watch some horror Malay flick, which I did last week and was totally unimpressed. I’d leave the horror genre to the Thais anytime. Maybe the Japanese too, but it stops right there.

So yes, the Mr and me watched something else. WOLVERINE!

*drools* So many good-looking hunks, so little time. I think the movie spanned about an hour and a half, or perhaps two, I didn’t really check; but a shoutout to the movie reviewers, you suck.
Yes, they really suck. How can they say it’s not good?! If you’re a true X-Men buff and have watched the trilogy before coming to this Origins installment, you would understand why and how everything is as it is.

So yes, a must watch for the Marvel junkies out there.
Just don’t be too anal about it and enjoy everything there is.

It’s been a rough week.

And I don’t feel like blogging about it.

I blog because I want to remember events, good or bad.
But what’s the point, when it keeps recurring?

No point blogging, really.

I need some time out.

And the weather is killing me too.

Pals from AnakMelayu.com held a surprise birthday gathering for yours truly, at Lau Pa Sat on Friday evening.

What was supposed to be just another Friday dinner with the usual five, with intentions to feast on satay and seafood, turned into an occasion for me.

The fact that they whipped out a birthday cake from beneath the tables of food, despite me being there all that while, added more spice to the element of “surprise”.

No wonder Malique was adamant on following me to get drinks. LOL.
It turned out that they ran off to smuggle back a cake while I was away.

And instead I was blabbing about how nice it was to have more people turn up that day, wondering why everyone felt that Lau Pa Sat was a good idea to meet at.

Yes, I was VERY surprised; one, I’ve never had a birthday surprise before.
Secondly, I’ve known them for barely a year now.

And of course, how nice of them to put my name on the cake for all to see despite them knowing me as Rae.

BEST KAPER SAK. -_-”

They even said my name loudly during the birthday song, for half of Lau Pa Sat to hear.

How I love my friends.

Oh by the way, I took none of the photos. All of them are courtesy of Nis (in the red Man U jacket) and Malique (the unshaven one; he thinks he’s George Michael).

I met some new friends that day, some whom I had only made contact virtually, nothing more than that.
The fact that they turned up for MY birthday, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. =)

Semi-embarrassed, tired-looking, grateful me.

I am so lousy at cake-cutting. I need lessons.

The chocolate Oreo cake was really nice. Even though I have this love-hate relationship with chocolates, because it gives me jarring headaches, one slice definitely didn’t kill me. =)

So off we went!

For the past few days, I’ve been throwing up irregardless of the time of day, whether or not I’ve eaten (it gets worse after eating) and it seems to be even worse when I’m lying down. Waking up and going to sleep makes me feel really giddy when I’m in bed, and I’ve been trying hard to make it to the kitchen on time instead of throwing up all over my bed instead.

I definitely am not pregnant, and a few times this week, I have had sudden stomach cramps while I’m sleeping. Just a hard pain in the gut for a few minutes before it goes off and I doze to sleep again.

What’s with the sudden nausea man. I feel perfectly fine other than that. Now I only have one meal per day. And I dread taking it, knowing that I’ll only throw it up again afterward.

Ugh.

I don’t feel like going to the doctor because most of them just play guessing games and shove random antibiotics in my face, which usually only make me feel worse. Or it’s only a matter of time before I do.

I still remember throwing up for hours on end as a side effect to the usual Cafergot for migraines last year even when I’d been on it for months.

At the rate I’m going, I’m going to throw all my insides up.
