Yes. I’m another GST credits sucker.

Oh bliss!

Our wonderful government gave us, those above the age of 21, some wonderful MONEY.

Yes, we all got some, just whether we got more or less depends on what type of home you’re living in.

And so, because my wonderful parents are living in a 3-room flat, I got $250 again.
Next payout when? July ijjit? Then? Anymore? I don’t know but yes, it shall do for now.

So what does a girl like me do?

SHOP!

(yeah I know, no-brainer. pffft.)

I was so blardy happy about the money because it meant that I could finally get my hands on some ESSENTIAL  (yes, it’s essential, that’s one level below NECESSARY) makeup items.

Contrary to popular belief,
I am indeed saving up for my impending wedding.

But until then, you cannot expect me to go out bare-faced and naked right??

Point made.

So okay,

I got two long sleeve tops, because I figure that I am perhaps, just perhaps, putting on a leeeeeeeeeeeettle bit of weight and should cover my arms.

Besides, it’s always cold in the office.
Might as well cover up right?

*sniff*

Okay, my items!

Photobucket

I finally got my hands on some of the Mineral makeup that seems to be popping up all over the place.

I’ve been going around testing these makeups for a while now and I reckon Maybelline has the best coverage.

Not that I have anything hideous to hide anyway.

But it’s also very dumb that Maybelline imports the Mineral Power Loose Powder foundation and blush, but does not import the concealer, lipstick as well as the Finishing Veil compact powder to complete the range.
I mean, I don’t know about other users, but I prefer using a complete range to complete the look, you know?

Lipstick is forgivable.
But concealer and finishing powder, that’s like completing the Holy Trinity.
You can’t use a shade of foundation from this brand, and use a finishing powder from another brand with the NEAREST shade possible.
No, it does not work that way.

Even when I used to work for the distributor who imports PHYTO haircare and LIERAC body products,
we had the complete range.

It’s just an unspoken rule.
You MUST use the complete range.

But okay,

I bought it anyway.

I’ll just have to use the loose foundation to touch up everytime.
I’m willing to make the NECESSARY sacrifice.

Maybelline, take note okay.
Not every customer is like me.

Hmpf.

Photobucket

Oh, and the promoter was honest enough to give me this little pouch that came with a mirror to place my Mineral Power product in, when on the go.

She said it was to put in the foundation as well as the blush.
But as we all can see, it only fits one of the products.

Tsk.

So between the powder and the blush,
I guess the pouch goes to the powder.

I know it’s a no-brainer for some but I’m a person who brings the COMPLETE set of makeup when on the go okay, so sue me.

Speaking of complete,

Photobucket

that wasn’t the only thing I bought. *nervous giggle*

I bought a Bourjois Ombre Stretch eyeshadow in Black, a ZA Ever Brow pencil in brown as well as a Maybelline Volum’ Express Cat Eyes Mascara in black as well.

I’m trying to get that rock chick look this time round.

Trial makeup was done the moment I got home and I have to say,
I LOVED EVERY SINGLE ITEM I BOUGHT TODAY.

Then again,

I always do. :P

I now have items from M.A.C, Bourjois, Maybelline, Revlon, Silkygirl, ZA, L’oreal, UGNY, Lord & Berry, Clinique, Body Shop, Face Shop.

Oh God, I think I better get a box from IKEA to hide this stash from the Mr when we finally move in together!!

Here I am.

With milk and sliced mangoes.

And the strong urge to watch He’s Just Not That Into You.

But the Mr won’t watch chick flicks.

Hmmmmmm..

This year seems to have loads of interesting movies coming up.

2012.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Wow, that’s an average of a movie every 2 months.

SO BEST CAN??!?!

My wonderful morning.

Here’s how my morning went.

Woke up at 730am.
And realized that we’re out of coffee, milo and tea.
It’s okay, champions can live on plain water.

Took half an hour to iron my silk blouse.
In the end I gave up and wore a dress instead.

Reached Newton at 9am for a meeting.
And realized that the P.A gave me the wrong address.
Correct building is located at Raffles Place.
ACROSS MY OFFICE.

Didn’t have enough coins to get a can of Coke from a vending machine at the MRT station.

Finally reached correct building. Asked to review contracts.

Was told I need to sign as well as have the company stamp on it. Which was not done by the KL side when they couriered it over. Thanks again ah P.A.

What’s the use of email when no one uses it?
It’s not for office gossip you know.

And the best part?
When on the way to Raffles Place,
a guy came up to me and said,

“MISS?

THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR DRESS IS UNZIPPED.”

Excuse me while I die of embarrassment in the office now.

To everyone who boarded the same train with me from Marsiling to Newton, and then to Raffles Place, I hope you liked the black and pink bra.

Sigh.

Better to reign than serve? – Reply

An email reply from a close friend of mine, Arno..

Apart from having the Muslim faith for myself, I believe that the following reply as penned by my friend, is something we should have within ourselves.

I wouldn’t have said it any better than this.

Thanks Arno for letting me share this.

The comment did strike a chord in me. You know I’m an atheist, yet I do
have a desire unanswered. I feel… not lost, but there is a vacancy in
me. I guessed I’m wired in a such a way that I want there to be an
almighty deity. I just can’t get myself to believe in it. It is,
literally, too big a leap of faith for me.

Having said that, let’s assume for the sake of argument that there is a
deity. Aside from some mismanagement issues, I’d consider any deity who
allows a place of eternal misery to exist, just because a person didn’t
believe in the right god or didn’t pray five times a day, not worthy of my
devotion.

Perhaps, I’m being arrogant. But I can’t seriously entertain the idea that
the creator of the universe would punish me, you or anyone else, for not
practicing a specific religion to the letter. What matters to me is to be
a good person. To be of added value to those around me, to love those who
love me, to befriend and to hold out an helping hand to one in need. If I
face the creator, I’ll face it confidently, knowing that I did my best.
Not because a book or a religion told me to act like that, but because I
_felt_ it was the right thing to do.

That is, I don’t try to be nice, because of an instilled fear of hell, no.
I try to be nice, because I _want_ to be. Even when I’m convinced no-one
is judging me. Even when I know I can get away with a crime, I’ll refrain
from committing it. That’s morality, and you have that too, I’m sure of
it.

I believe that’s the catch. And if a creator is watching me, I’d think it
would value my moral decisions more knowing that I based them on my own
motivation, rather than out of fear for his judgment.

There is also another comment reply to the previous post from a fellow WordPress reader which you guys can view and ponder upon.

That said,

Have a good lunchtime people.
And God bless. :)

iMODELS International?

Was walking to Plaza Singapura earlier this afternoon when I got approached by a chinese couple who claimed to be from iModels International Pte Ltd from Park Mall. Handed me their namecards and asked me if I was in a rush, because they wanted my stats.

I think I looked at them blankly for a full 10 seconds before reconfirming what they said. Me? A Model? This is talent-scouting? Model-spotting? Come on la, I know myself. I think I have better chances at winning next year’s CNY $10 million TOTO Draw, y’know?

They asked me if I worked in the area. I replied that I was meeting a contact for lunch, and was running rather late actually. They insisted that it would take only about 15 minutes to walk back to their office and get me to fill up some stuff. To which I replied, “But I’m only 1.56m without the heels you know.” I mean, sapa tak kembang kan hear this kinda stuff, tapi aku sedar siot diri aku macamana. So they said I could drop by after my lunch and come in for a interview to see if I could make the cut because they needed faces for print ads. Height don’t matter in print ads, they say.

After the lunch, I decided against meeting them, because I was feeling lazy. (Sapa kenal aku mmg tahu nah aku kalau da lepas makan, reception ada siket tak clear.. Hehe..) When I reached my office, I checked up on the company. According to BizFile, it’s still new, about 3 years old. And seems that there is a running dispute about scams or not. Technically, if you pay for said portfolios to market yourself and you get your products, say, exchange of services, it would be hard to prove them a scam as you would be a willing party. Of course, there are other factors, such as ridiculously high prices. But it’s an overall fact that usually, or almost all, modelling agencies would NOT ask you to pay for your portfolio if you’re a genuine gem.

Checked out their website, and seems there are even portfolios of models which are at the height of 1.52m onwards. Hmmm. Isn’t it funny that they would simply approach people on the pretext of having “spotted” me while they were on their errands? Korang banyak sangat baca cases of supermodels kena spotted eh? Macam Gisele Bundchen ni semer?

Even if they might be a genuine agency, I doubt the likes of me would make it to be a hired face. It’s probably a “sideline” thing to make extra cash by scamming, okay a nicer word instead, convincing eager young people to part with their cash to put together decent portfolios.

So, shall I completely ignore it, or just entertain them for the fun of it and keep saying no throughout? Just because I was wearing 3-inch heels and a full makeup does not make me model material, I’m completely aware of that.

If I do decide to kill them with exasperation, I’ll keep you guys updated.
So.. watch this space! LOL.

Movie/TV – Under The Tuscan Sun

Filed under: Movies — RaeLynn @ 9:32 pm

It’s a rare event when I switch on the TV on weekend afternoons, because I usually think the shows that MediaCorp chooses to play would be low-grade flicks like Mosquito Man, or Piranhas or something.
(Why do most lousy flicks involve animals?)

That and I don’t understand why soccer highlights have to be shown on weekend afternoons as well.
I liked it much better when there was a separate channel for all sports programmes.

Anyway,
before I digress,

I’ll tell you what kept me glued for about two hours to the set today.

No, it wasn’t Channel NewsAsia as usual.

..

I have to say, that I love this movie!

The main character, Frances, a writer, thinks she’s in a happy marriage until her husband asks for a divorce. Facing writer’s block, she goes for a vacation in Tuscany, Italy and buys a rundown villa on a whim. Trying to be independent, she hires immigrant contractors as well as makes several friends who impart nuggets of life and advice to her. On the rebound, she’s attracted to her house agent as well as a stranger. Along the way, she faces another budding romance that happens within the villa, as well as her pregnant friend who comes over to stay. When Frances faces yet another heartbreak, she realizes that she got what she initially wished for; a wedding and a family.

I liked how the story unfolded. Not too draggy, a handsome Italian stranger, love found, love lost, and the views of a stunning rustic villa as well as a blossoming orchard.

Ahhhhh..

If only I was single,

I’d buy the next ticket to Tuscany, Italy right now.

*thinks of sleeping Mr*

Maybe the honeymoon then. :x

Better To Reign In Hell Than Serve In Heaven – Cradle of Filth

Ever heard how some angsty teenagers will proclaim the same, to show how rebellious they can be?

But how ready for hell are they?

In many religious traditions, Hell is a place of suffering and punishment in the afterlife, often in the underworld. Religions with a linear divine history often depict Hell as endless (for example, see Hell in Christian beliefs). Religions with a cyclic history often depict Hell as an intermediary period between incarnations (for example, see Chinese Diyu).

Punishment in Hell typically corresponds to sins committed in life. Sometimes these distinctions are specific, with damned souls suffering for each wrong committed (see for example Plato’s myth of Er or Dante’s The Divine Comedy), and sometimes they are general, with sinners being relegated to one or more chamber of Hell or level of suffering. In Islam and Christianity, however, faith and repentance play a larger role than actions in determining a soul’s afterlife destiny.

In Christianity and Islam, Hell is traditionally depicted as fiery and painful, inflicting guilt and suffering.[1] Some other traditions, however, portray Hell as cold and gloomy. Despite the common depictions of Hell as a fire, Dante’s Inferno portrays the innermost (9th) circle of Hell as a frozen lake of blood and guilt.[2] Hell is often portrayed as populated with demons, who torment the damned. Many are ruled by a death god, such as Nergal, the Hindu Yama, or the Christian Satan.

- excerpt from Wikipedia

I’ve been thinking about Hell alot nowadays. I don’t know why.
A calling of my actions?

Islam

Main article: Jahannam

Muslims believe in jahannam (in Arabic: جهنم) (which is related to the Hebrew word gehinnom and resembles the versions of Hell in Christianity). In the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam, there are literal descriptions of the condemned in a fiery Hell, as contrasted to the garden-like Paradise (jannah) enjoyed by righteous believers.

In addition, Heaven and Hell are split into many different levels depending on the actions perpetrated in life, where punishment is given depending on the level of evil done in life, and good is separated into other levels depending on how well one followed God while alive. The gate of Hell is guarded by Maalik who is the leader of the angels assigned as the guards of hell also known as Zabaaniyah. The Quran states that the fuel of Hellfire is rocks/stones (idols) and human beings.

Although generally Hell is often portrayed as a hot steaming and tormenting place for sinners, there is one Hell pit which is characterized differently from the other Hell in Islamic tradition. Zamhareer is seen as the coldest and the most freezing Hell of all; yet its coldness is not seen as a pleasure or a relief to the sinners who committed crimes against God. The state of the Hell of Zamhareer is a suffering of extreme coldness, of blizzards, ice, and snow which no one on this earth can bear. The lowest pit of all existing Hells is the Hawiyah which is meant for the hypocrites and two-faced people who claimed to believe in Allah and His messenger by the tongue but denounced both in their hearts. Hypocrisy is considered to be the most dangerous sin of all (despite the fact that Shirk is the greatest sin viewed by Allah). According to the Qur’an, all non-believers who have received and rejected Islamic teachings will go to Hell.

- excerpt from Wikipedia

I have always believed in the Almighty but I know that it isn’t enough.

Is it time for me to give more? To spend more time with God?
Each time I hear the call of prayer (azan) I feel like weeping.
For all the times I have deliberately skipped prayer,
for all the times that I have knowingly walked into places and done things I am not supposed to.

They say life is short,
but it is forever to us now.

Then what is Eternity in the afterlife?

Preparing.. Preparing..

Anyway..

Saturday was the first day of our two-day marriage preparation course at the Al-Iman mosque in Bukit Panjang.

The Mr wore a nice blue long-sleeved collared shirt, which I’ve never seen him in before.

Photobucket

*wolf whistle*

So, *ahem*, yes.. we spent 9 hours in a mosque listening to a lecturer speak on the trials and tribulations of a marriage, the duties of a husband and wife according to the rules of Islam, as well as the types of personalities we have and how we can improve our approach to each other.

We learnt that I am the Dominant/Manager type who calls the shots and wants results, whereas Hasni is the Silent Perfectionist. True to his character, the Silent Perfectionist must make proper plans, no last-minute calls for him, and then he will do things surely, but not slowly. Whereas me.. I just want to win all the time. :P

Photobucket

I look like a mother of 3 in this one. HAHA.

Next Saturday would be our 2nd and last day of the course. A pity. We actually enjoyed it.

And I have so much more profound respect for the man I’m going to call my husband. :)
