I’m so going to get fat within these 2 weeks, I just know it.
I only had to work on Monday & Tuesday, I skipped going to the office on Wednesday because the office was open from only 9am to 1pm due to the eve of Christmas. Thursday was Christmas, and today being Friday, well, I’m just lazy.
I won’t be in the office this Monday either because the KL office would be closed due to Awal Muharram, according to the Islamic Calendar. The perks of having an office based in an Islamic state like Malaysia.. I’m not complaining.
I’m on holiday when they’re on holiday. And when it’s a holiday in Singapore, well, too bad guys, only I go off. Hehehe.
I’m only working on Tuesday and Friday (maybe) this coming week because of the New Year as well. Hah.
Anyway, Wednesday was spent with me scouring Geylang Serai and Malay Village for something decent to wear to a wedding held this weekend.
It’s somewhat a feat considering I have always worn a Kebaya (something that would make it impossible to help out with chores in) and the Baju Kurungs I own are rather big for me, because I bought them like, 4 years ago. So yes, the quest to find a flattering Baju Kurung that would actually make me look my age.
I scoured for over two hours before I chanced upon a pastel brown Baju Kurung at Joo Chiat Complex. Unfortunately when I wanted to make payment, the shop did not have the NETS machine (it’s a rather new shop I suppose) and I had to withdraw from the nearest ATM on the first floor.
After I’d withdrawn the money, I went back into the Complex and realized with horror…
That I had forgotten which shop I went to earlier.
Now, Joo Chiat Complex as we all know is filled with rows of shops that all sell traditional Malay clothes.
So what is 1, out of say, 120 shops?
I couldn’t remember if the shop was located on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and went about several times, until finally, exasperated, I stopped near the escalator to take a breather and recollect my thoughts.
And that’s when I saw the saleslady who had assisted me earlier in picking out my choice, frantically waving at me to get my attention.
When I got back there, she said she thought I had gone to get other things first, but saw me walking past about 4 times before she felt that I must be lost.
Hurhur.
Yesterday, I went to Geylang Serai yet again with my parents this time, who decided that it was probably a good day to search for bridal stuff.
We went from store to store to look at decorations and services. I ended up paying for bedsheets which cost $180 and buying cloth worth more than $100 to pay several sets of Baju Kurungs for me, to be sent to the seamstress next week.
I was so hungry I could have bitten the salesgirls who attended to me.
We only managed to sit down for lunch at about 2pm, and we had fast food.
Arnold’s is no longer as nice as I remembered it to be. Sigh.
We continued walking about after that, and then we went to IKEA to browse for furniture, mainly bedroom sets.
I ended up sleeping throughout the whole bus ride home. I was that tired.
Finally met up with the Mr at the end of the day.
Complaints were met with his laughter. Necessary evil he said.
I wonder when we’re gonna get to the fun part of getting married.
10 more months to go.
