Last Saturday,

I finally got engaged.

Photobucket

Like, officially.

Photobucket

That’s my family.

Guess they’re happy that I finally decided to say Yes to someone. LOL.

Photobucket

My aunt, cousin and niece. My cousin’s getting married in May.
A lot of weddings to attend in 2009 I guess. :)

His family came over. His parents, aunt & uncle and a few cousins.
His brother, sister-in-law and baby niece were there too.

Photobucket

I felt nauseous when I saw this cake.

OMG, I’m engaged. Like, for real.

At this point, his mother commented that my hand was ice-cold and shivering.
Much to the laughter of the girls in the room.

Argh, thanks my MIL.

It was a simple affair, my family gave a mocha cake and some of Hasni’s favourite chocolates..
Ferrero Rocher + Toblerone..

Photobucket

And his side gave a cake, a fruit basket, some cocktail jelly, brownies and the tanda hantaran.

Photobucket

OMG, I’m like, really engaged now.

My very first Hearts & Arrows diamond ring.

Now, ten more months to go.

Holidays aplenty..

I’m so going to get fat within these 2 weeks, I just know it.

I only had to work on Monday & Tuesday, I skipped going to the office on Wednesday because the office was open from only 9am to 1pm due to the eve of Christmas. Thursday was Christmas, and today being Friday, well, I’m just lazy.

I won’t be in the office this Monday either because the KL office would be closed due to Awal Muharram, according to the Islamic Calendar. The perks of having an office based in an Islamic state like Malaysia.. I’m not complaining.

I’m on holiday when they’re on holiday. And when it’s a holiday in Singapore, well, too bad guys, only I go off. Hehehe.

I’m only working on Tuesday and Friday (maybe) this coming week because of the New Year as well. Hah.

Anyway, Wednesday was spent with me scouring Geylang Serai and Malay Village for something decent to wear to a wedding held this weekend.

It’s somewhat a feat considering I have always worn a Kebaya (something that would make it impossible to help out with chores in) and the Baju Kurungs I own are rather big for me, because I bought them like, 4 years ago. So yes, the quest to find a flattering Baju Kurung that would actually make me look my age.

I scoured for over two hours before I chanced upon a pastel brown Baju Kurung at Joo Chiat Complex. Unfortunately when I wanted to make payment, the shop did not have the NETS machine (it’s a rather new shop I suppose) and I had to withdraw from the nearest ATM on the first floor.

After I’d withdrawn the money, I went back into the Complex and realized with horror…

That I had forgotten which shop I went to earlier.

Now, Joo Chiat Complex as we all know is filled with rows of shops that all sell traditional Malay clothes.

So what is 1, out of say, 120 shops?

I couldn’t remember if the shop was located on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and went about several times, until finally, exasperated, I stopped near the escalator to take a breather and recollect my thoughts.

And that’s when I saw the saleslady who had assisted me earlier in picking out my choice, frantically waving at me to get my attention.
When I got back there, she said she thought I had gone to get other things first, but saw me walking past about 4 times before she felt that I must be lost.

Hurhur.

Yesterday, I went to Geylang Serai yet again with my parents this time, who decided that it was probably a good day to search for bridal stuff.
We went from store to store to look at decorations and services. I ended up paying for bedsheets which cost $180 and buying cloth worth more than $100 to pay several sets of Baju Kurungs for me, to be sent to the seamstress next week.

I was so hungry I could have bitten the salesgirls who attended to me.

We only managed to sit down for lunch at about 2pm, and we had fast food.
Arnold’s is no longer as nice as I remembered it to be. Sigh.

We continued walking about after that, and then we went to IKEA to browse for furniture, mainly bedroom sets.

I ended up sleeping throughout the whole bus ride home. I was that tired.

Finally met up with the Mr at the end of the day.
Complaints were met with his laughter. Necessary evil he said.

I wonder when we’re gonna get to the fun part of getting married.

10 more months to go.

I’m currently on eBay, in the office, trying to survey for some makers or sellers of good quality platinum rings, or jewellery, for that matter.

So, like any unsuspecting customer would do,

I entered ‘PLATINUM’ in the search engine.

And what did my search results yield?

Colour me bad.

Yesterday, I finally picked up the eyeshadows I had reserved with Immelia.

Photobucket

Okay, I didn’t pick them up per se.
We office girls, did it the lazy-ass way.
I transfered the agreed amount to her, and hired a courier guy to pick it up from her and send it to me.

When you think about it, our offices are only two MRT stops away. LOL.

Photobucket

I bought some coloured studs as well. Why are there so many accessories shops nowadays?
And at about $0.80 per pair, how can I not say no?!

I look like a walking Christmas tree now.
Which reminds me that I have to pick out something nice to wear to the Christmas parties aplenty these two weeks.

Photobucket

I think it’s neat that Maybelline has a little “manual” at the back of the cases for eyeshadow newbies like me.

It makes me look loads more cheery.
And so budak baik also right? :P

Photobucket

I couldn’t resist, you know.

And yeah, by the time I finally left home for the office, it was 10.10am. HAHAHAHA.

Dec weekend..

Just a quick re-collect from my weekend.

Well okay, it won’t be THAT quick. I’ve uploaded some photos from my digicam (which I finally remembered to bring when going out, HEHE).

~

First of all…

on Friday..

Some of the AM-ers and me met up with NYQA for her belated 20th birthday at Kampong Glam Cafe.

Nope, they’re not a couple. He’s the one who bought the cake.

Have I mentioned how much I love KGC’s Fish & Chips (a hearty plate!) and Roti Kirai? Worth the money I tell you.
How I now wish my office is nearby Bugis instead.

~

Then on Saturday, the Mr and me, who had NOTHING to do, and thus, woke up at 7am, decided on a whim to go to the Zoo.

Apparently, half of Singapore must have thought of doing so too.

Or maybe it’s just the hype after the white tiger incident.

Anyway, my mother (aren’t mothers supposed to know everything) told me that the entrance fee shouldn’t be more than $10.

And when we got there, it was $18 per person.
When asked, she duly added, “Oh, that was when YOU were 5 years old.. Hehehehe..”

I love mum.

This picture tells me that I was only talking to myself moments earlier.
I don’t remember him walking off. SHEESH.

I love parrots. They remind me of Daljit. She keeps one.

The otters were cute. The one on the left kept patting at the sand as if it was making sandcastles. Really cute. So many of them too!

I’m a sucker for wobbly beings.

Pregnant women not included.

Chimps doing their thang.

Their lines actually run together. Looks like a pair of conjoined tapirs.

Fed lions are not as interesting.

These two meerkats kept grooming and nuzzling each other.
I think I want a meerkat now.

The zebras’ area smelled the worst.
I almost died.

White tigers are probably tired of all the publicity by now.

The love found his long-lost siblings..

Tranquility at the end of the zoo..

Any bottled drink costs $3 at the zoo.
I rather wait. The Mr couldn’t.

Seems like this not-so-little-one shares the same sentiments..
I have to admit it was scorching by noon..

Sweaty and out of ideas on where to go next;
Us.

Sunny weekend..

Spent the sunny weekend with the Mr, lazing around in our neighbourhood.

Have I ever mentioned how near we live from each other?

I just have to go down this staircase.. That’s his apartment block at the top of the staircase.

And walk down this path beside a school. It’s really dark at night though. And voila, I’m home! My apartment is in the block across the road. :P

I like looking at this clear plot of land. Figure we could just have our wedding under a marquee here??
Nah, I doubt so. Foreign workers enjoy their games of cricket on weekends.
Incurring their wrath might not be a good idea..

Anyway, we spent the afternoon washing and polishing his beloved bike.
My saviour on days I pretend to be sick so that he can pick me up. :P

I pasted this sticker!!
Reminds him to say a little prayer before he gets on his bike to and from work everytime.

Two hours later,
we’re done!

Okay, HE did everything. I merely helped out by wetting the towel and simple stuff like that.
I went to the nearby provisions shop to get some drinks.

Hey, that’s called MORAL SUPPORT okay! >:(

After that, we went to have some iced lemon tea at our favourite drinks stall near the Checkpoint.

Absolute bliss. We always fish out the slices of lemon last and chew on them.

And on mean days, I fish out HIS slice of lemon too.
On blur days, he does it to me. :(

We also shared a plate of fried beef kway teow..
:D

Best kan matair tinggal dekat-dekat!
Living nearby suits lazy people like us. :D

~

Just a random note,

I think the White Chocolate Mocha Espresso at Starbucks rocks!

And the Chocolate Amer too!
Though I think it’s a little too pricey at $6.30 a slice.

Come to think of it, there’s a Starbucks within my office building..
Hmmm…
